I’m supposed to be editing a bunch of video we shot for a new comedy web series called “Science & You” starring David Taylor (my old roommate and the person our oldest housecat is named after). Instead I’ve been screwing around and procrastinating with every file and piece of video on my computer’s multiple hard drives except ones that have to do with this project.
Here’s a video clip of me performing at last Friday night’s 12 Shiny Nickels Show in Hollywood. It’s kind of a sloppy, lackadaisical set (I say “racist” at one point during the bit about having sex in the car with my wife when I meant to say “rapist”.). But, there are a couple of new things I talked about that might have some legs if I keep working on rewriting them and making them better. I have high hopes for “International Waters” and even the chunk about “Monopoly.”
Anyway, I finally figured out how to host my own Quicktime videos on my server and embed them using WordPress. That way I can upload standup sets that I consider to be sub-par (which is pretty much 99.9997332% of all the ones I’ve ever done) here without having them on YouTube and Daily Motion and whatnot where kids, jerks and internet cretins will leave helpful comments such as “You Suck!” “Kill yourself” and “You aren’t good at this and should quit comedy/life.”
Although I share these sentiments wholeheartedly I’d really prefer not having to hearing them from cyber lurkers with nothing better to do than make me feel bad about myself. The sundry voices in my head, as well as the ghost of my deceased father currently burning in hell, do plenty of that for me already.
